DOCTOR FAUSTUS:
01-20 March 2005 at the ROSEMARY BRANCH

Christopher Marlowe's Dr Faustus, the first production from the Lord Strange's Men theatre company, was a sell-out succes and played to packed houses at the Rosemary Branch Theatre, London from 01-20th March 2005.

In addition to scheduled performances, an extra show was added on Thursday 17 March due to demand for tickets, and a private daytime performance after the end of the run was booked for Hampstead Prep School.

This fast-paced production told the story of a brilliant scholar who makes a deal with the Devil, gaining forbidden knowledge and worldly power at the cost of his immortal soul. With a running time of only 70 minutes, this new adaptation (by Ralf Collie) follows Faustus from his initial invocation of Mephistophilis, through his 24 years of luxury and indulgence on earth to his ultimate, inescapable damnation.

Doctor Faustus was directed by David Evans Rees, with Ralf Collie as Dr Faustus.
Other parts were played by Gordon Ridout and Tessa Hatts, with Julia Taudevin as Mephistophilis.
Michael Scott was the Lighting Designer and the Theatre Technician was Lucy Hansom.
LSM would like to thank Rebecca Applin for providing music for the production.

'For what is a man
profited, if he shall
gain the whole world,
and lose his own soul?

Or what shall a man
give in exchange for
his soul?'

(Matthew 16:26)
